I'm Back!
Sorry for the long delay, but it's exam time and I've got some student bloopers for you.
I assigned my students to write an essay about how one of the big themes we talked about this year threaded through the whole semester. Some of them wrote me fabulous essays with great style, others wrote me some well-structured 5-paragraph essays, and others wrote me...well...you'll see the results below.
From an essay on the American Dream:
"There was the massacre of General Custard in the war to clear the west." (Is that like Captain Sundae in Holland, MI?)
"In war there was many United Sates victories including the settling of the west and the defeat of Mexico for control of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philistines." (They probably defeated them with a slingshot, too.) (This is the same kid who wrote about Watergate in his first semester exam...and 1st semester covers early American lit from 1600-1840.)
Too bad I don't get this kid again next year. :)
