Paris in the Rain
As many of you know, I'm taking a summer class that involves me doing a lot of writing. So, I thought I'd share with you a poem I wrote about a photograph I have up in my kitchen.
"Paris in the Rain"
Dripping hair
Soaked cotton t-shirts
Triumphantly clinging to the
Disintegrating night bus map
Strangely all smiles.
No more 45-pound packs to haul
No more fretting about open hotel windows
No more āIām sure the hotel is this way.ā
Warm and dry, we settle in
And can laugh.
Have you heard the one about
the five North Americans?
lost in the rain?
in Paris?
at one a.m?
Good thing we can laugh about this now, John!!
